This guide is provided to help students understand the terminology used on the fact sheets.
Population: All the people who live in a district
Area (km2): The size of the land within a boundary – in square kilometres.
Population density (/km2): The average number of people who live in each square kilometre.
Population change (%): How much the population has increased or decreased since the last time we counted.
Average age: The number you get when you add the ages of everyone in the district and divide by the number of people.
Average income ($): The number you get when you add the salaries of everyone in the district and divide by the number of people.
Voter turnout (%): The percentage of people who had the right to vote and who voted in the election.
